11.02.10 BG Capital further strengthens research department

BG Capital, a leading investment bank in the frontier markets of the Former Soviet Union, is pleased to announce the addition of two top analysts to its market-leading research team. Vitaliy Vavryshchuk will be responsible for Macro, Banking sector, and Fixed Income coverage, and Aleksandr Romanov will cover the Real Estate & Construction, Consumer Goods, and Retail sectors.

Vitaliy Vavryshchuk has three years of market experience, having earlier worked as Financial sector analyst at Dragon Capital. In 2009, Thomson Reuters Extel named him one of Ukraine’s top-3 analysts. Prior to that, Vitaliy worked as an economist at the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE Ukraine), a Kyiv-based think tank. Vitaliy completed his undergraduate degree in economics at the Kyiv Mohyla Academy and received a Master’s in Economic Theory from the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).

Aleksandr Romanov previously was an analyst at Concorde Capital, and in 2008 was named top-3 Development and Construction sector analyst in Ukraine by Thomson Reuters Extel. Before entering equity analysis, Aleksandr was Chief Financial Officer at TMM-Energobud and prior to that, a financial analyst at Procter & Gamble. He holds a Master’s in Economic Studies from the Kyiv Mohyla Academy and a Master’s in Economic Theory from the Kyiv School of Economics.

“We’ve now completed the formation of our research coverage of Ukraine’s key sectors that have equity market exposure, having brought together a team of top Ukrainian analysts with a wealth of market experience. The last year offered a good chance for new hirings, and we took advantage of that opportunity at a time when others were doing the opposite. The economic crisis forced investment houses to cut expenses, which led to a shortage of quality research – but without solid research, a bank becomes just another brokerage. In the coming year, I’m positive BG Capital Research will not only improve its positions in the Ukrainian market, but will also set the benchmark for quality for local peers,” said Vladimir Nesterenko, Head of Research at BG Capital.
